Full data backup
Hostbasket uses a ‘content based’ backup system (Symantec PureDisk) to backup its own servers and the customer’s dedicated servers.
The concept is based on a piece of software installed on every server. This ‘agent’ lists daily all server files and creates a unique key based on the content of the file. Changes to a file also modify the key.
The file will be encrypted and compressed and sent to the storage server. If the file already exists only an annotation will be made in the backup application. All files will be rapidly and efficiently treated without affecting server or network performance.
Via “Dedicated Server Manager” you can control the backup log files to be sure that all data are safely stored.
Files that are locked (by the OS) or still opened at the moment of backup, will also be considered if a daily dump has been configured (for example via maintenance plan for MS SQL databases).
All backupped files will be stored for minimum 4 days but the period can optionally be extended.
Hostbasket can restore one or more files based on your backups. A restore can take a couple of hours (up to 24 hours) depending on the data quantity.
