Hostbasket offers you the option to make your website into a protected HTTPS website. All communications between the website and your visitors will be protected by an SSL certificate, the current standard in the protection of communication on the internet. SSL encrypts personal or sensitive information, such as credit card data, passwords, names and addresses that are sent via your website. This makes SSL an important element in ensuring the online safety of your visitors and in decreasing the risk of fraud or phishing.
This product is available for every shared hosting solution and every dedicated server. The application procedure can take up to 5 business days.
What do you have to do?
The only thing you have to do yourself is to sign the required documents and contracts and send them to Thawte. These documents provide the required proof to verify the identity of the applicant (company or individual). Gather the following information in advance:
- Exact host name or domain name for which the certificate is being requested.
- Business name of the owner of the domain name.
- Correct address (street and number, postal code, city and country) of the owner.
- Name and function of a contact person within the company.
- Create a mailbox: ssladmin@yourdomainname.be with a forward to support@hostbasket.com (so that we can process the whole procedure for you).
What does Hostbasket do?
- We generate the "SSL request" file.
- We purchase the certificate at www.thawte.com.
- We do the follow-up of all required paperwork.
- We install the certificate on your web server.
- We configure your HTTPS website.
- We configure the HTTPS host headers (e.g. "secure.yourdomain.com").
- We test your HTTPS website.
