Hostbasket provides a reliable e-mail service as well as various other mail services such as daily backups, protection against spam and viruses, the use of your own domain name, mail forwarding, auto responders, etc.
Mail Plus mailboxes
POP (Post Office Protocol) is the most used protocol for transferring email from a server to a client (email program of the user). POP3 has been designed in such a way that a client connects with a POP3 server and then retrieves all emails and stores them locally. Next, the messages are removed from the server and the connection is broken. This is the opposite of the more current IMAP system where clients just leave messages on the IMAP-server until the client explicitly removes them. This and other features of the IMAP-system allow several clients to have access to the same mailbox.
You can use both the POP3 and the IMAP system with your Mail Plus Mailboxes.Size per mailbox
Every mailbox entitles you to 100 MB of storage. Each mailbox can be individually upgraded with more storage capacity. You can opt for mailboxes with a storage capacity of 1 GB, 500 MB, 2 GB, 6 GB or 10 GB
Spam/virus filter
Worldwide email traffic is bombarded on a daily basis with an excess of viruses and unwanted emails. Hostbasket scans your emails for viruses and spam before they arrive in your mailbox. This allows us to keep your mailbox free from unwanted messages and viruses, without any extra investment in software or hardware by you. The filters are continuously updated and maintained by us.
You can also increase spam/virus filtering to the Advanced level so you can adjust the filter level for yourself via a control panel.Click here for an overview of the options.
