Active Server Pages (ASP) is a technology developed by Microsoft to build dynamic web pages or complete websites. It is a scripting language that is executed on the server side, in contrast with, for example, Javascript, which is executed in the browser. These days, ASP is being further developed under the name ASP.NET, which offers more options and which is being used within the .NET Framework. ASP is a technology; not a programming language.
